KATE Y SU MAQUILLAJE

You may recognize her from countless telenovelas. Now Mexican actress Kate del Castillo is coproducing and starring in her own online Web novela called Vidas Cruzadas on Univision.com. Castillo, 37, believes these Mexican soap operas are one of the country’s greatest contributions to American culture. She’s also joined the L’Oréal Paris girls club as its newest spokesperson. Growing up in Mexico City, “I was like a tomboy, riding bikes and going to parks,” Castillo says. She’s glammed up her game since; here, her star beauty picks.
“When I was younger in Mexico, I used to smash avocado, add almond oil and use it as a hair mask. It looks like guacamole, but it makes your hair beautiful and shiny.”

“The first time I wore red lipstick was for the L’Oréal print ads. I was married to lighter colors on my lips, but now I love this red shade. I carry it with me all of the time.”

“My skin is a little dry, so this night cream is very good. It has collagen in it, and it’s not expensive.”

“I hate sun in my face; I think it’s really dangerous. But if I’m going to be outside, I use this really thick sunscreen.”
