Eight Mexican teams are split into two groups, and the group winners play the group runners-up in the final with two spots in Copa Libertadores at stake.Because the Mexican Football Federation briefly pulled out of all South American tournaments earlier this year due to H1N1 flu fears from South America, Chivas and San Luis are not eligible to participate in InterLiga. Both teams had reached the second round of the 2009 edition but were unable to play their series.When the FMF and CONMEBOL agreed that Mexico would rejoin Copa Libertadores, both Chivas and San Luis were given automatic berths in the knockout rounds of Copa Libertadores.Also not eligible to participate in the tournament are Toluca, Pachuca, Cruz Azul and Pumas since the quartet is involved in the CONCACAF Champions League.
